My Story

About a year ago I had the pleasure of meeting Angi, founder of Angi’s List. I asked her for any advice she had for a new business owner in this industry. Her response was to lean into my story and share my unique perspective as a way to build my business. I’ll start off by saying that I’ve owned Lake East Landscape for 1.5 years, and previously worked for my parent’s company under the same name for 3 years. Prior to joining full time, I had worked part time for the family business starting at age 15, filing paperwork and watering lawns. My educational background includes studying environmental studies in college, getting a certificate in wetland science, and most recently completing an executive masters in business administration. I also served two AmeriCorps terms as an intern at a non-profit Forterra and at the Cascadia Conservation District. What draws me to landscaping is my passion for sustainable design. I want to help create landscapes that are ecologically friendly and resilient in our changing climate. We pride ourselves on not using pesticides and fertilizers, and prioritize native plants whenever possible. We are involved in a few different professional organizations including the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties. As a lesbian business owner, we are also a member of the Greater Seattle Business Alliance. I was born in Seattle and raised in Edmonds. I currently live in Lynnwood, and love our regions unique environment and natural wonders. As a landscape designer and installer, I hope to continue my family’s legacy of providing high quality work that is beautifully designed.
